TweakNews History :
This website started out on February 28th, 1999 under the name VanEmpelen.com. The original site was just a personal website owned by Peer van Empelen (hence the name) with some links and some gathered news-items for friends and family.
It continued in this form until August 2001 when the domain-name was illicitly “borrowed” when switching DNS-providers. We were given the option to “buy” the name back for a tidy sum, but that was not an option when all your money is tied up in computers. It was not a pleasant encounter but it made us more wary of what the “World Wide Wackiness” can be like.
Several positives were realized as a result of this forced change: The domain-name www.TweakNews.net was registered and TweakNews was launched. The current format of the website is a starting point from which it will grow with contributions from our team and our visitors. The design was originally created in the SHTML format but proved to be difficult to maintain. After some discussions with fellow-webmasters the language PHP with a MYSQL backend was chosen as new language. This language is flexible and can take huge amounts of data providing substantial “headroom” for the new site.
In February 2002 the TweakNews-team was reinforced with Nathan Glentworth. Starting out as a writer he proved capable of many things and was moved up to chief editor and marketing contact. As a result of his affiliation we have substantially increased site hits and are signing sponsorship deals on a weekly basis. He has now been promoted to owner and head-cheese. How's that for a career-move?

What good is a computer when it is not used to its full capacity? Our leading edge technical articles will aid in tweaking and stretching your machine to the limits and beyond.
This website will grow to meet the demand of the online community.
