Canadian Corporate Information
After only a decade of growth since first entering the Canadian market
in 1987, Samsung Canada, headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, has emerged
as the market leader. We are growing in Canada by about 20% per year and
continue to build a strong presence in every market we enter. Operating
as part of Samsung's Americas group, our Canadian operations gain considerable
competitive advantage from Samsung's local Americas R&D, manufacturing,
and technical support. Samsung Electronics in Canada focuses on consumer
electronics and information systems products. Consumer electronics began
in Canada in 1987, followed by IS in 1992. The information sales division
has grown 61% since 1992. Samsung has introduced a wide range of IS products
into the Canadian market, which include hard disk drives, CD-ROM drives,
printers, fax machines and monitors enforcing its leading market position
and fast year-over-year growth with a strong local presence and reseller
network to serve Canadian consumers from coast to coast. Samsung is building
a strong presence in Canada as it has all over the world.
PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Remember the days when you thought that double density 3.5" floppies
were the greatest and you felt like you could fit the world onto one of
these small storage discs. Seeing that today has brought about the era
of more complex programs, larger working files, and cheaper technology,
optical disc writing is only at it's infancy. In marches the slow one
speed (1X) burners that marked the start of the optical writing trend.
Since then, the market has been going through a similar speed race that
the CPU manufacturers are going through as we speak. Currently as I write
this review, I believe 48X is the maximum speed. But with the great speed
increases, the burning times are starting to become so insignificant,
that updating to the latest and greatest burner may only allow you to
burn a full CD 1 minute faster. Is is worth it? Well, that's up to you.
The 32x burner from Samsung that I will be reviewing today is a GREAT
all around burner for everyone. It is full of great features like buffer
underrun protection, fast cd writing speeds, fast loading and unloading
and comes with everything to get you making your favorite music cd's and/or
backing up your data.
